ELECTRONICS DESIGN  ENGINEER

Who Are We

In this role, you will facilitate product growth and development. Supporting whole lifecycle projects from concept, new product development, product updates through to production support and retirement. You’ll carry out Electronics design engineering activities in support of new product development including Analogue and Digital designs. Managing multiple projects utilising specialist subcontractors / analysis software as required to deliver in a fast moving development environment.

Requirements

- Development of high quality, high demand products sold into a regulated environment.

- Collaborate as a team member to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.

- Generate concept designs for technology development projects.

- Understand and interpret technical requirement specifications.

- Allocating work for Technicians.

- Technical lead of Electronics aspects for a project.

- Optimise design concepts to provide most cost-effective solution that will meet specification requirements.

- Specify and conduct verification testing of design solutions, to ensure they meet the specification requirements.

- Produce documentation to define the product design, enabling the cost-effective manufacture of the design.

- Support the product design throughout its life, making continuous improvements to improve product value.

- Active member of the Electronic Engineering Department; developing and coaching the junior members of staff; and continually challenging and improving the departmental processes.

Skills & Knowledge

- Be results focused in order to achieve development schedule.

- Work easily across cross-functional project teams and has a good understanding and experience of the Engineering life cycle.

- Have a desire to apply lean principles to the generation of continuous improvement.

- Competent user of schematic capture & simulation tools.

- Familiar with electronics manufacturing methods.

- Knowledge of Military Standards would be beneficial but not essential.

- Excellent team worker, with the ability to work with minimal supervision where required.

- Excellent written/oral communication skills, confidence in dealing with a wide range of people, including suppliers, designers and senior management.

- Excellent IT Skills, with knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Adaptability to learn new IT skills essential.

 

- Electronic Engineering Degree / HNC (or equivalent). Significant design experience essential.

- Accredited by a relevant professional body advantageous.
